Dr. Tina Brookes

 

Dr. Tina Brookes, a licensed clinical social worker, has specialized in critical incident crisis response for over 25 years. She has offered support, education, and consultation with an emphasis on promoting resiliency to law enforcement, fire, rescue, EMS, emergency management, hospitals, military, schools, and various community agencies. Dr. Brookes has trained approximately two thousand individuals from across the USA and numerous countries including Australia, Thailand, Japan, England, Canada, Liberia, South Africa, and Germany.

She has presented at five ICISF World Congresses and four American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) World Conferences on critical incident crisis response. Dr Brookes has also presented at numerous national, regional, and local conferences. She directs a local Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team providing education and support to local emergency responders following a critical incident. She contracts with a variety of agencies to provide debriefing services as needed. Dr. Brookes co-founded The Academy: National Institute for Crisis Response Training in 2008 and has served as The Academy’s primary instructor from the beginning. She now also serves as the CEO. She developed the ASSIST (Assisting Students and Staff in Stressful Times) protocol for schools. She serves as a mental health consultant for a regional CISM team, C.R.E.S.T (Crisis Response Emergency Support Team), and was recently asked to sit on the NC CISM Steering Committee.

Dr. Brookes is a volunteer with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team and has served as one of their CISM chaplain trainers at The Cove for ten years. She is also a volunteer with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Mental Health supervisor.
